Exploit: Hacking
Company: Atlanta Allergy & Asthma
Industry: Medical, Healthcare

Several months after the initial cyberattack took place, patients of Atlanta Allergy & Asthma (AAA) are now being notified of the incident. In March 2021, DataBreaches.net reported that threat actors dumped over 2 GB of AAA’s stolen data on their leak site. The stolen data included personal information affecting over 9,800 patients.

While the company is claiming they took action to secure their networks immediately after the incident occurred in January, only now has AAA seemingly begun to update patients and the public. After a lengthy investigation, it has been determined that certain personal information was compromised including- dates of birth, social security numbers, health information and account numbers.

While company officials are stating that they are not aware of any misuse or fraud stemming directly from the incident, it is important for impacted individuals to understand their information was dumped on the Dark Web and it will be important to remain vigilante, monitor their accounts, and be careful that the stolen data can be used to single out targeted attacks on individuals.
