Microsoft is Re-Branding Office 365 Plans

If you are a Microsoft Office 365 Business, Office 365 ProPlus or a Microsoft 365 Business customer, or are currently planning to move to Office 365, you should be aware that on/after April 21st 2020 Microsoft will be changing the name of their plans in an attempt to simplify purchase decision and eliminate some confusion that many of our clients have had.

New Plan Brand Designation

Microsoft is essentially breaking their new offering into 2 segments. Microsoft 365 Business, and Microsoft 365 Apps.

Microsoft 365 Business

Microsoft 365 Business (Basic, Standard and Premium) is the core product offering containing all of the same cloud apps Office 365 includes today. While there are other subtle differences between the plans, the high-level summary is that Basic is just the online apps, Standard is the online apps plus the Microsoft Office software suite for your PCs, and Premium is all the features of Standard plus Microsoft Windows Business software for your PCs, Azure Active Directory and the ability to centrally secure and assign policies to those PCs.

Microsoft 365 Apps

Microsoft 365 Apps are simply monthly subscription licensing for the Microsoft Office suite for your PC but include none of the Online Services.
