Free IT assessment
Find out where you actually stand.
45 minutes of looking. A written plan you keep.
happier IT's free IT assessment is a 45-minute review of your systems that produces a written plan: what is fine, what is risky, what it would cost to fix, and the order we would do it in. It costs nothing, nothing gets changed while we look, and the document is yours whether or not you hire us.
What we look at
Six things, in the order they tend to matter.
Deliberately the areas where a problem is both common and cheap to fix. This is not a 60-page audit designed to frighten you into a contract.
-
Who has access to what
Active accounts, administrator accounts, people who left and were never removed, and how access is granted in the first place. This is where we find something almost every time.
-
Whether your backups would actually restore
Not whether they run: whether anyone has restored from them, how long it took, and whether an attacker inside your network could reach them.
-
What is out of support
Operating systems, applications and hardware past the point where anyone issues fixes for them. Usually one or two things nobody realised.
-
Multi-factor authentication coverage
Not "do you have it" but "where is it missing", because the gaps are always the administrator account and the shared mailbox.
-
Email security posture
Whether someone can send email that looks like it came from your domain, and what would catch a fraudulent payment-change request.
-
What you are spending, and on what
Licences, contracts, renewals and vendors. Duplicate subscriptions are common and immediately refundable in the budget sense.
How it works
Three steps, about a week end to end.
-
A 30-minute call
You describe the setup and what prompted you to look. We tell you whether an assessment is worth doing at all, sometimes the answer is no, and that is a fine outcome.
-
About 45 minutes of looking
With read-only access, or alongside your own IT person if you have one. We are not moving anything or turning anything off, and nothing is installed on your machines to do it.
-
A written plan you keep
What we found, ranked by risk and by cost to fix, in plain English, with the things you can do yourself marked as such. Yours regardless of whether you hire us.

What you get, in writing
A plain-English document: findings ranked by risk, an estimate against each fix, the items you can handle yourself marked as such, and a recommended order.
No invoice, no obligation, no follow-up sequence.

Questions
The ones people actually ask.
What does it cost?
Nothing, and there is no version of this where an invoice appears later. The written plan is yours whether or not you ever speak to us again, including the parts you could hand to your current provider.
What is the catch?
The honest one: we do this because a meaningful share of organizations who see a clear written picture of their own IT decide they want help with it. If you are not one of them, we have spent an hour and you have a useful document. That trade works for us.
Do you need admin access to our systems?
Read-only access is enough for most of it, and we will tell you exactly what we are asking for and why before you grant anything. If you would rather sit alongside us for the whole thing, that is completely fine and quite common.
Will this disrupt anything?
No. Nothing is changed, moved or switched off during an assessment, and no agent is installed on your machines to run it. It is looking, not touching.
We already have an IT provider. Is this awkward?
It is a second opinion, which is a normal thing to get about anything expensive. Your provider does not need to know, and we will not contact them. If the assessment finds they are doing a good job, we will say that too.
How long until we get the plan?
Usually within a week of the walkthrough. If we find something genuinely urgent, you hear about it that day rather than in a document later.
