Why happier IT

Every provider in this market says the same five things.

Here is what we can actually be held to.

Proactive, 24/7, trusted partner, peace of mind, every managed IT provider in Canada says it, which means none of it distinguishes anybody. Below are six differences that are structural rather than adjectival: things you can check, and things a competitor would have to change their business to copy.

The differences

Six things, in order of how hard they are to copy.

The first one took years to build. The last one just takes a willingness to lose a sale.

  • Our security operations centre is ours, and it is in Canada

Most providers our size resell someone else's monitoring platform and pass the alerts along. Ours is staffed by happier IT employees, in Canada. At 3am the person reading your alert already knows your environment and can phone you. Ask any other provider the same question and listen carefully to the answer.

  • We do not sell fear

You will not find a ransomware countdown, a hooded figure, or an unsourced statistic about how many businesses fold after a breach anywhere on this site. It is a brand rule, and it is also a working constraint: if a recommendation only makes sense when you are frightened, it is a bad recommendation.

  • Plain language, enforced

Every acronym is glossed the first time it appears, on every page, because people land on pages directly. There is a glossary because we would rather explain a term than let you nod along to it.

  • We publish the numbers most providers hide

Pricing ranges, what is in and out of scope, response targets, staffed hours. "Contact us for pricing" wastes your time and ours, and it quietly removes us from every comparison a buyer makes.

  • Outcomes, not tickets

A fixed monthly fee means we make money when nothing breaks. That single structural fact aligns our incentives with yours better than any promise on a website could.

  • We will tell you when we are not the right fit

Under about 15 people, managed IT is usually more than you need. Some specialist platforms are better served by their own vendor. Saying so costs us a sale and saves you a bad year.

An observation

Sameness is the norm in this market, which is the whole opening.

Look at ten Canadian managed IT websites and you will find the same category names, the same stock photograph of somebody pointing at a monitor, the same dark hero image with a padlock on it, and the same four promises.

That is not incompetence, it is a category that has converged. Everyone copies the leader, the leader copied the last leader, and buyers are left with no way to tell anyone apart except price.

We would rather be legible. That means publishing prices, naming what we do not do, leaving a testimonial slot visibly empty until it is real, and building a website that looks like a company you would want to talk to rather than a firewall vendor.

A test you can apply to any provider

Ask three questions and listen for hedging:

1. Who watches my systems overnight, are they your employees, and what country are they in?
2. Who signed your last reference letter, and what year was it?
3. What are you not good at?

Proof

What we can evidence.

Stated once, confidently, without a wall of logos. Anything not verified is marked as such.

Client story
Three signed letters, 2016 and 2017
Response-time target
minutes, not hours

The old site carried numbers we could not trace: a phishing-reduction percentage, an average ticket response time with no figure next to it, and a "top 500" claim. They are not on this site. Every number here will trace to something real or it will not ship.

The promise

Positive change, made painless.

Your systems get stronger, your risks get smaller, and your mental load gets lighter. That is the whole proposition, and everything above is just the evidence that we mean it.

Questions

The sceptical ones.

What actually makes you different from the MSP down the road?

Structurally, one thing: we run our own security operations centre in Canada with our own employees in it, rather than reselling a monitoring platform. Culturally, one thing: we are the provider that will not use fear to sell you something. Everything else on this page follows from those two.

Every provider says they are proactive. Why believe you?

Do not believe the adjective, check the structure. Ask whether the fee is fixed (so prevention is in our interest), whether there is a written quarterly review, and whether the provider will put a price range on their own website. Those three are checkable. "Proactive" is not.

Can you show us a client story?

Three, and they are letters our clients wrote rather than quotes we collected. Premier Marine on documenting 120 PCs and 20 servers across five locations, the BC NDP on running the 2017 election, and Absolute Results on switching to us from a previous supplier. All three are quoted in full on the home page, with the year each was signed. What we do not yet have is a recent one, and we would rather show you a dated letter than imply it was written last week.

Are your certifications current?

The list above comes from happier IT's own brand documentation, and every certification our team holds is listed on our awards and certifications page. Partner badges have usage rules and expiry dates, so we are verifying every one before this page goes live rather than after.

What if it does not work out?

Then you should be able to leave with your documentation, your credentials and your data, in a usable form, without a fight. Sixty days’ notice either way, and the handover costs you nothing. A provider who makes leaving difficult has told you what they think their retention rests on.

Want to know what this would look like for you?

A 30-minute call. No slides, no audit fee, no obligation. We ask what is breaking and tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
